Who we are
Nestor Education was founded by two friends, Roma Rodriguez-Alarcon and Matthew Thal.
Roma spent his formative years at St Paul’s School. He went on to study History and French at University College London, graduating on the Dean’s List with an exceptional First Class degree. He is now researching eighteenth-century France at Somerville College, Oxford.
Matthew’s teenage years were spent at Mill Hill School. He read Classics at Peterhouse, Cambridge, where he took a First Class degree before securing a prize-winning Distinction in the MPhil.
Roma began tutoring privately after leaving St Paul’s in 2018 and has now accumulated thousands of hours of tutoring experience. He has guided numerous students towards superb GCSE and A-Level grades and has helped dozens of children to secure places at outstanding Independent Schools and U.K. Universities.
Alongside tutoring, Matthew has taught Latin, Greek, and Classical Civilisation at two of England’s best schools, King Edward’s School, Birmingham and Henrietta Barnett School.
Many of his tutees have gone on to win places at top Independent Schools, and he has a formidable track record of helping students receive offers from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
