Teaching experience
Thomas has extensive experience teaching undergraduates and postgraduates the history of art for eight years at The Courtauld Institute of Art, and other institutions. He has published widely on topics from nineteenth-century painting, sculpture, architecture, and art criticism, including: John Ruskin, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, James McNeill Whistler and Marcel Proust.
Thomas has led many group visits to galleries, exhibitions and permanent collections in London. He has also given public talks at Christie’s and various museums.
Thomas’s teaching philosophy places emphasis on the individuality of every student, on helping them to achieve self-expression in fulfilling their assignments, and on nurturing creativity.
On visits and in gallery talks, Thomas enjoys sharing his passion and expertise to deepen appreciation for the inspiring and transfixing power of great art.

As well as a teacher, Thomas is a writer, currently working on a book on nature, art and transformation. He also spends as much time as he can cooking (and eating), walking in London, and travelling.
